Accredify, Asia Pacific’s leading provider of verifiable digital documents, today announced that it has been awarded the Data Protection Trustmark (DPTM) Certification by Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) for its data protection and privacy practices.
As part of Accredify’s commitment to protecting user information and personal data, Accredify has voluntarily applied for the DPTM certification and was independently audited for conformance to its certification requirements. The successful award of the DPTM certification serves as a declaration that Accredify has implemented responsible data protection practices that protect users’ personal data. The DPTM has been previously awarded to industry leaders such as AIG Singapore, DBS and M1.
Developed by IMDA, the DPTM certification are based on parameters including Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), international standards and industry best practices. Organisations must demonstrate that their data protection practices are compliant to 4 principles of data protection with each principle having a set of assessment criteria with controls under each criterion. The 4 principles of data protection under the certification requirements are (a) governance and transparency, (b) management of personal data, (c) care of personal data and (d) individual’s rights.
Edmund Chew, Chief Risk Officer and Data Protection Officer, Accredify, said “Protection and privacy of an individual’s personal information is and always will be Accredify’s top priority. The successful implementation and audit of the DPTM Certification provides assurance to our stakeholders that our company has strong safeguards in place for data protection and that they can continue to trust us to manage their information.”
